Patrick Delaney, MBA, CRSP, helps Alberta’s oil & gas service companies build safety programs that actually work—without bloated binders or audit confusion.
With over two decades at the forefront of Canada’s oil and gas safety initiatives—including as Vice President of Health & Safety at the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (now Enserva)—Patrick brings unmatched experience in interpreting legislation, building safety management systems, and mentoring internal teams.
He chaired Canada’s upstream Drilling and Completions Committee for nine years, has advised federal transport regulatory agencies and is a contract instructor for OHS legislation and policy courses in the University of Calgary OHS certificate and diploma programs.
Patrick holds both an MBA and the CRSP designation, and in 2022 was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (Alberta) for services in the transportation sector.
He is not an auditor, not an engineer, and not here to sell you paperwork.
He is a teacher, a builder, and an ally for companies that want safety programs that reflect the way they actually work.
At Gryphon Consulting, our mission is simple:
Translate complex safety regulations into systems your people understand and use. We don’t sell pre-packaged solutions. We work with companies that want clarity, mentorship, and real-world guidance—not shelf-bound manuals.
Patrick served 20+ years as the VP of health and safety at the trade association representing the service, manufacturing and supply sector of the Canadian upstream oil and gas industry. He has participated in committees at the federal and provincial level that helped shape OHS legislation in use today.
He doesn’t just know about OHS legislation, he instructs it for the OHS Certificate and Diploma Programs at the University of Calgary; Patrick breaks down complex regulations into everyday terms that your team can understand and apply.
Many companies have spent significant sums of money on safety binders that no one ever opens or uses. Patrick can fix, rewrite or repurpose these binders into systems that actually support operations.
Patrick’s strength is in training, coaching, and hands-on support—not handing over documents and walking away. He works alongside your team to ensure adoption, readiness, and confidence.

Have a question during a regulator visit? Need a quick document fix? Patrick offers on-call support, follow-up sessions, and project-based engagements.
We paid over $8,000 for a generic manual from another firm that no one used. Patrick trimmed it down, trained our supervisors, and got us ready for audit—without overwhelming anyone.
When I inherited the safety program, I didn’t know where to start. Patrick didn’t judge—he coached me through every step and helped us create something we could stand behind.
TDG and NSC compliance was a mess. Patrick made sense of it all, helped us document our fleet procedures, and gave us confidence before a regulator review.
